AECP - All about layering 1

I am beyond thrilled to be part of the Altenew Educator Program.  Paper crafting has been my passion these recent years and I am looking forward to honing my skills and learning new techniques.  Let the magic begin… lets make this learning experience a productive and enjoyable one!


AECP - All about layering 1


I used delicate clusters stamp set in my first assignment.  I stamped the images directly onto the paper and created a clean and simple card where there is a balance of white and stamped spaces.

Initially, I wasn’t certain if I should have the “white space” on the card. I thought I need to fill it up, but adding a black border around the images helped to frame the card. Leaving the space there gave the card a clean look. 




I completed the card by adding a sentiment and a few pearls, and added a black card stock behind before foam mounting onto the card front.


The second card I created was using the vintage roses stamp set to create a stamped background of a card.


Using the smaller rose from the stamp set, I spaced the images to cover the front of the card. I rotated the images in different angles and stamped them with Altenew inks.  I stamped small leaves between each flowers and left enough white space on the card.

I adhered a sentiment on a strip of white card stock and foam mounted on top of the card. 



This completes my first assignment. I look forward to creating more cards and sharing them here.

 Hello, Today is the day for me to post my projects for my Level 2 AECP final challenge! I am required to select any 3 components from the classes in Level 1 or 2 and come up with 4 masculine cards with the following themes; birthday, Love/thinking of you, anniversary and encouragement. I also need to complete an upcycled or recycled project. The components I chose are; “Clean and simple boutique cards”, “easy die cutting techniques” and “with a twist”.  “Clean and Simple boutique cards” are created with a minimal look that creates the “wow” factor for the card recipients. I like it that my cards use minimal supplies to bring out the maximum satisfaction for the recipients. I also like to leave “white spaces” on my cards for the “clean look”. “Easy die cutting techniques” help put my dies to good use. AECP: Creative Watercolor Media

 Hello, Welcome back! I learnt how to use different watercolor media to color my images on my cards. There are many watercolor media out there. Today, I’ll be using Altenew’s watercolor brush markers, Dr. Ph. Martin’s India ink and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. I used watercolor paper for all my cards. Together with Altenew’s famous floral images, I had a blast coloring them. My first card uses Altenew’s Flower Garden.  I stamped and embossed the floral images with clear embossing powder. Then, I spritzed the whole watercolor paper with clear water. I used Dr. Ph Martin’s India ink to color my images. While the images were wet, I added my colors on the flower petals and watched the colors disperse with the water. This wet on wet coloring technique is really quite magical as the colors work their way with the water. I added some darker colors for some contrast.  India ink is permanent once dried. AECP: Level 1 Final Challenge Masculine cards set

 Hello, Welcome back! I am thrilled to showcase my Masculine cards set for Level 1 Final Challenge AECP. In my previous blog posts, I mentioned that I have been challenged to complete 2 sets of cards - feminine and masculine cards, and to choose 3 classes in level 1 to incorporate the elements learnt in my cards. For my masculine cards set, I chose “Let it Shine”, “Irresistible Inking Techniques” and “Clean and Simple Boutique Cards”. Just like my feminine cards, I made a total of 6 cards. I also recycled a plastic package from a previous purchase and used it to package my cards.  The masculine card designs were based on the  Leaf Clusters  stamp set. Similar to the feminine cards layout, I was able to create 6 different designs and layout using the leaves stamp. All the sentiments used in the cards are from  Floral Shadow  stamp set.
